Yippa

May 17, 2010 – It's been awhile since i've posted an update. I hit a point in February through April where I was extremely busy with work. Things have cooled down and I'm finally down to a normal workload. It's great timing since the days are getting longer and I can spend more time outdoors.

I'm currently wrapping up two new website redesigns. They both deal with issues in developing countries; one supports women artisans and sells their goods online, the other does research and consulting to support the development of social enterprises.

Oh, and I'm on Facebook and Twitter now.

February 3, 2010 – It's a new year and with a little break at the beginning of January, work has really picked up. I'm finishing up two websites and will be starting another that deals with helping sustain nonprofits in emerging markets. I'm also working on an environmental website and two logos. This will be a busy month, but i'm excited about the projects.

I'm currently busy through the end of March, but always seem to be able to take on more work if the fit is right. And finally, I've created a Facebook page for Yippa. You can reach it at: http://fb.yippa.com

November 2, 2009 – I'm back into work mode. I'm fully immersed in a web design project for a great nonprofit that does research on women's issues around the world. The homepage comps have been submitted and I'm moving into the revision process.

I've also started working with an organization called GoodWeave that works to end child labor in the carpet industry. They have great sponsors like Dwell magazine, Apartment Therapy and other great companies that support their mission.

Two months ago, I worked on a design for AIDSspace, a program that the United Nations created. The design ended up going a different direction, but I was happy with the way my comp turned out and have posted it in the web section of my portfolio.

October 20, 2009 – I'm back! Returned from a trip to Japan and Taiwan and am currently taking on new projects. During my trip, a few projects that I had been working on launched. One was a media website (intranet) for the book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. Another was a design refresh for Reform Immigration for America.

I'm starting two new projects this week and will be posting a few other projects when they go live. One is a complete rebranding for an organization that deals with environmental pollution.

September 17, 2009 – Currently taking a few weeks off in Asia, taking photos, eating good food and using this time to rejuvenate creatively. I've updated the web section of my portfolio with new projects for Global Goods Partners and Credo Mobile. I will also be adding an immigration reform website that I've been working on when it goes live.

In the meantime, enjoy the beginning of fall, one of my favorite times of the year.

September 3, 2009 – I've been really busy these last few months, working mostly on websites. Most of them haven't launched so I haven't been able to post them, but will in the coming weeks. I've been really been happy with the designs that I've produced lately, partly because the projects have allowed for more time in conceptual exploration.

I'll be taking a little time off to rest, but feel free to contact me about new projects starting in October.

July 13, 2009 – It's been a busy last few weeks. I worked on some comps for the UNAIDS organization and just finished a microsite for the Roosevelt Institute. The guys that started Etsy have started a new company called Postling that will make it easier for people that use social networking tools. I worked on their identity and their homepage.

On the horizon, I've been talking to some nonprofits about doing iPhone development. That's another business I've started with a partner, so if anyone is interested in an app, drop me a line.

April 23, 2009 – Just launched a website for AFSCME, one of the largest unions in the U.S. It was a fairly quick turnaround project built in ExpressionEngine which makes the site easy for the client to update.

I also designed a Facebook application for the American Cancer Society. It was my first time working on a Facebook app and I enjoyed the challenge in figuring out the flow of the application.

Besides some ongoing work with the Clinton Foundation, I have two other websites under development and will post those as soon as they're live.

March 31, 2009 – I'd been working on an iPhone app on the side, but it's been put on hold due to new client projects. One of them is for one of the largest unions in the U.S. and the schedule has been pretty aggressive, but the design process is going pretty well. I'll be entering the ExpressionEngine phase soon and launch will be in less than two weeks.

I've also got two Wordpress websites that are in the design phase and have also been working on the interface for a Facebook application. It's good to stay busy, especially with the way things are going with the economy.

March 16, 2009 – I've been pretty busy with new projects. One I just completed was for a company called waffl that will be launching in the near future. I've added their logo to the identity section and will post website designs once the project launches. I had a great time working on that project.

I've also been working on some identity and website design for a conservancy in California and a few big projects are on the horizon.

January 13, 2009 – I've been making progress on learning Textpattern, which I think I'm going to consider using on client projects. It's not as powerful as ExpressionEngine, but it's pretty flexible, has all or most of the features that my clients would need. There are quite a few plugins for it and even with them installed, it feels slimmer than ExpressionEngine. Plus, it's free and has a great community supporting it.

I'm also fiddling with the idea of creating iPhone optimized websites. If any of my clients would like to create a slimmed down version of their website for the iPhone (with the option to view the full website), please get in touch.

January 6, 2009 – Happy New Year! The website has been cleaned up and I've made some slight adjustments to the sizing of the screenshots in the portfolio. I've also changed some of the screens to better represent some of the work I've done.

I'm still adding a few new things to the website; looking into getting the site into a CMS. It was running on ExpressionEngine, but I'm looking into Textpattern, an open source free solution.

Project-wise, over the holidays, I was working with the Madera Group to push out a few emails for the Clinton Foundation. It's been great working with them and I'm happy to be helping the Foundation's causes.

December 18, 2008 – I've been reorganizing the structure of the website to allow for larger screens and a more balanced layout. I've also created a news section that will also contain previous news.

The one area that I'm still working on is getting the portfolio images to be accurately sized since I increased the width. You may notice a few little bugs, but the screenshots will be viewable and the functionality still works fine, but will look slightly skewed.

Currently, I'm wrapping up a few projects, getting ready for the holidays and spending more time with family. The new year will bring new focus.

December 4, 2008 – Since my studio works mostly with nonprofits, I've relaunched my website with projects focused on those clients.

I'm still adding a few new projects and tweaking the functionality of the website, but wanted to put more focus on my portfolio, with the addition of email campaigns that I work on.

I also take on full content management system (CMS) websites where I partner up with a small, trusted group of developers.
